Cape Town – Award-winning singer and first African Barbie role model, Lira, has given her fans an update on her journey to recovery, following a stroke that has affected her speech.
Lira, whose full name is Lerato Moipone Molapo, suffered a stroke while in Germany for a performance about a month ago.
She took to social media on Friday to thank her supporters for their “overwhelming love, support and prayers”.
“I am recovering well. Physically I have been unaffected, I am strong and healthy. The stroke has unfortunately affected my speech, however I am making lots of progress every day. I will be taking some time to focus on my recovery,” she wrote.

She asked her supporters to keep her in their prayers and said she can’t wait to be back.
Her fans, including celebrities such as DJ Zintle and Kelly Khumalo, showed her love in the comments section, sending love, kind words and prayers.
