Cape Town – South African TV star Somizi Mhlongo has hit back at critics who may have a problem with seeing him on their screens again after he was cast as a judge on the new show The Masked Singer SA.
Somizi was announced a panelist on the new show alongside DJ Sithelo Shozi, radio presenter Skhumba Hlophe and Mi Casa singer J’Something.
TshisaLIVE reported him saying at a press conference that some fans would be unhappy at him landing this gig.
“The first thing when the news goes out, people are going to say ‘Ah Somizi again judging’ and we are not judging, I think they’ll get a pleasant surprise to understand that this is not a singing competition like any other. We are not judges, we are panelists, we are exactly what the audience is, we are just given the voices. But we are exactly what the audience experience,” the report quoted him as saying.

Somizi also said that he would stay true to himself and let his personality shine through as he usually does.
He said that those who want to see him, will tune in to watch.
“I’ve been myself from day one, and I would never change anything for anything or for anyone, so if you are tired of me, then switch. What makes me to be where I am today is my authenticity. Somizi has always been this, you’ll see Somizi at a different show but he will still be Somizi,” he said.
