Cape Town — South African singer, Makhadzi, has received support from Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture – Gayton McKenzie – ahead of her upcoming show in December.
Makhadzi revealed her One Woman concert which is set to take place on 21 December at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. However, the music star was unhappy that South Africans were more inclined to support controversial US singer, Chris Brown than one of their artists.
According to The South African, Brown took just 2 hours to sell out FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, which has a capacity of more than 90 000 seats. Brown’s concert is set to take place on 14-15 December 2024.
In contrast, Peter Mokaba Stadium only holds 41 000 seats. While she was excited to launch her show, which will feature an all-woman lineup, she was disappointed by the reaction of South Africans.
“South Africa is like a movie, so now I must take 10 years to sell out Peter Mokaba Stadium tickets. Chris Brown takes 2 hours. Wow, you people are something else. You don’t see people, you only notice the hype. Shame. Buy the tickets before I get angry,” Makhadzi said on X

In response, Minister McKenzie revealed he would buy 200 tickets to support Makhadzi, available for anyone who wants to accompany him.
“I will be there and will buy 200 tickets for those that want to accompany me to Peter Mokaba to see one of our most biggest stars in the world,” he said.
