Cape Town — South African actress, Sonia Mbele, is one of Mzansi’s most recognisable faces and she has found herself in the headlines again for different reasons.
This time, Sonia was trending for an interview she did, that was circulating on X. In the interview, she revealed she was a multi-millionaire in her 20s, due to being the face of so many brands.
“I was a multi-millionaire in my 20s. I was the first face of Dark n Lovely, the first face of Lux, the first face of Ponds, the first face of Sun Silk and the first face of City Power. I had 90 TV commercials locally and internationally. I became a millionaire in my 20s.”
“I bought myself my first Louis Vuitton bag, so you must understand that I trained myself into a lifestyle. I gave myself a lifestyle. We need to also understand who we are, so that way we don’t repeat the same mistakes,” she continued.

It has not all been smooth sailing for Sonia in recent times. She revealed that she was diagnosed with chronic anemia, leading to multiple lifestyle changes.
According to The South African, Sonia made a name for herself by starring hit TV show, Generations as Ntombi Khumalo. When that role came to an end, she went on to be the executive producer for Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ).
In October, she was also involved in a tax evasion scandal with the South African Revenue Services (SARS) over an alleged amount of R41 000. She appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court where she admitted her guilt and was paid the outstandong amount, News24 reported at the time.
Many of the comments were quick to point out Sonia’s run-in with SARS
