Cape Town – Multiple award-winning rapper and businessman Kiernan “AKA” Forbes can finally breathe a sigh of relief after the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) vindicated him in its judgment that a partnership agreement between him and Communication And Marketing Agency, MakhuduCom Media is valid.
AKA took to Twitter on Monday to share the outcome of the long-standing legal battle between him and MakhuduCom Media.
According to IOL, MakhuduCom Media and AKA had entered into a partnership deal to produce content for AKA TV – which is a streaming service platform owned by AKA.
The The Braai Show which was hosted by AKA later moved from the streaming platform late last year to the public broadcaster, SABC, “to reach a vast and young audience”.
The report states that both AKA and MakhuduCom Media agreed that the entire copyright and other rights of the TV production would be jointly vested in both parties.

According to TimesLive, AKA took legal action against the SABC for prematurely ending his contract as TV host and subsequently sidelining him as a 50% owner of the TV show amidst rife allegations at the time that he was abusive towards his late partner, Nellie Tembe.
Nellie Tembe reportedly died after she allegedly jumped off a hotel balcony from a room she shared with AKA in Cape Town, SundayWorld reports.
AKA was subsequently replaced as host of The Braai show by his number one rival, Refiloe “Cassper Nyovest” Phoolo.
He took to Twitter to share the verdict of the long-standing legal battle.
“This morning, justice was finally served. I received confirmation of what I have always said: That I own The Braai Show.
“This matter for me has always been about business principles and asserting my rights to my intellectual property. It is about the injustices that continue to befall us in the creative industry and the violation of our trust by those we work with, who continue to exploit us. Thus I am happy that the arbitration proceedings have found in my favour that I am a 50% owner of The Braai Show and that no further exploitation of it can be transacted upon without my involvement,” he wrote.
Special thanks to Molai Attorneys & my counsel, Adv. Tshidiso Ramogale … & thank you to the Megacy as always. Let this serve as a warning to ANYBODY in the entertainment industry, individual, production company or broadcaster, who seeks to steal our ideas. Get those coins ready. pic.twitter.com/Ogr7fYGZth
