Cape Town – The parents of slain rapper AKA have opened up about their son’s brutal murder and revealed how they feel about watching the chilling CCTV footage showing his assassination.
The South African reported that the former couple, Tony and Lynn Forbes, sat down for an exclusive interview with You Magazine more than two months after Kiernan’s passing.
Kiernan was murdered in Durban on 10 February and 24 hours later, CCTV footage showing his murder from outside a restaurant started circulating on social media

Tony said that he still watches the footage.
“I never stop watching it, but I’m not sure if that’s good for me. I’m not investigating anything. A part of me just wants to know more about that last moment of his life. Rewatching it is my way of being there,” You Magazine quoted Tony as saying, according to The South African.
On the other hand, AKA’s mother said she does not watch the footage at all.
“I want to remember him as a light. He was a good person who brought such a light to us.”
The pair said their biggest fear is letting their granddaughter Kairo see the footage.
Lynn has been active on her Instagram page about Kiernan and has posted a number of pictures and videos recalling fond memories with her son. She said recently that some days are better than others.
“The most helpful thing anyone has said to me during this painful time … ‘Whatever you are feeling, and whenever you are feeling it …. it’s OK'”
