Cape Town — Singer Nadia Nakai had her life turned upside down when she lost her boyfriend AKA in February but has managed to keep a beautiful relationship with his daughter Kairo Forbes.
Nadia has managed to stay close to the Forbes family, including Kairo and AKA’s parents Lynn and Tony. She has been invited to multiple family events, and has been supported by the family on her return to music, The Citizen said.
After AKA’s passing, Nadia and Kairo’s relationship became stronger.
She took to Instagram and posted a series of pictures and videos of some of her favourite moments with Kairo.
“Happy Birthday @kairo.forbes I love you so much!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!! ❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait to see and squeeze you! ❤️❤️,” she wrote.

The South African reported Nadia revealed the moment she got to meet Kairo after she and Kairo’s Mother, DJ Zinhle, spoke at a fashion show and she asked Nadia when she was going to babysit Kairo.
“We were at this Fashion Week launch and it was the second time I’d seen Zee since I started dating Kiernan. She was like, ‘When do you start babysitting? You need to start babysitting Kairo.’ Inside I was just like, ‘okay, she seems fine with it so I told Kiernan and I met Kairo two days after that,” she said.
Nadia also said that Kairo was a sweet and considerate young girl who was constantly supporting her, even though she was the one who lost her dad.
“It’s so special, I’m just grateful I still get to have a relationship with Kairo. I’m grateful she wasn’t completely removed out of my life. I know maybe in the future she’s probably gonna start calling me aunty,” Nadia added.
