Cape Town – South African deejay Nkosinathi Maphumulo, affectionately known by his stage name “DJ Black Coffee”, has received his first-ever Grammy Award nomination for his album “Subconsciously“.
The Recording Academy took to its Twitter page to announce that Coffee has been nominated in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category.
His fellow nominees for the same award include Illenium, Major Lazer, Marshmello, Sylvan Esso and Ten City.
“Congratulations 64th #GRAMMYs Best Dance/Electronic Album nominees: @RealBlackCoffee @ILLENIUM @MAJORLAZER @marshmellomusic @SylvanEsso and @officialtencity,” wrote the Academy in a Twitter post.

The news has left Coffee speechless.

One could argue that this nomination is long overdue given the DJ’s track record.
According to TimesLIVE, the “Your Eyes” hitmaker has been touring the world for several years, winning awards and acclaim across the planet, including several SA Music Awards, five international DJ Awards and a BET Award.

The Recording Academy will present the 2022 GRAMMY Awards on Monday, January 31, 2022, on the CBS Television Network, reports The Citizen.
