Cape Town – The Makhado family has issued a statement confirming the untimely passing of their son, award-winning rapper Rikhado “Ricky Rick” Makhado.
Ricky Rick died on Wednesday.
“Son, husband, father, brother and uncle Rikhado “Ricky Rick” Makhado, 34, sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning in Johannesburg,” read the statement.
“His love for family, friends and community is well-known. Ricky’s nurturing and developing of young music talent is well-documented and will forever be remembered.

“The Makhado family humbly request privacy as they go through this extremely difficult period of grieving. The family has appointed a spokesperson at this point and they ask that you please keep them in your prayers,” said the statement.
The Makhado family said that they were deeply thankful and appreciated the countless messages of outpouring love and support received.
Ricky Rick is outlived by his mother, his five siblings, his wife, Bianca and their two children.
The family said that the details of the funeral and memorial service will be announced at a later stage.
