Cape Town — Springbok fly-half and World Cup winner, Manie Libbok, took a break from the rugby field as he married his childhood partner, Verna Arries.
The ceremony took place on Saturday in Mossel Bay, not far from Arries’ hometown. While the couple nor the guests have released any images from the day, there have been multiple hints across social media of the special day.
According to The South African, Manie’s wedding day was confirmed by Stormers’ fan, Sardieq Slamdien, who revealed that Manie missed the Stormers URC game against Zebre in Parma due to his wedding.

Manie and Verna met while at High School in George and became romantically involved. Manie, who is originally from the Eastern Cape, relocated to George with his family.
While nothing was officially confirmed, a few of Manie’s Springbok teammates hinted at the special day including Lukhanyo Am, who shared a story from his location in George, and Grant Williams, who was staying in Mossel Bay.
The wedding was further hinted at when Seeplaas, a wedding venue in Mossel Bay, revealed it was closed on Saturday 5 October for a private wedding.
South Africans will need to wait and see once Manie, Verna or any other guests share the snaps from the day.
