Cape Town – Zimbabwean TikTok sensationalist ‘Madam Boss’, real name Tyra Chikocho, was named the African Social Star at this year’s E! People’s Choice Awards.
Chikocho took to Instagram to share the good news, thanking her fans for making it possible for her to win the award.
“Oh oh oh oh oh am just a girl from Madziva We did it Thank you MadamBoss fans for voting for me woooow I can’t believe this Mum dearest wake up Thank you @eonlineafrica this big for me and my fans Zimbabwe we did it Don’t miss the 2021 Peoples Choice Awards 7 December on DSTv Channel 124,” wrote Chikocho in an Instagram post.

The nominees for the prestigious award were announced last month.
According to reports, this was the third time in the ceremony’s history that the People’s Choice Awards opened a category dedicated to Africa
Among those nominated were South African media personality Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo, social media star Lasizwe Dambuza, and beauty influencer Mihlali Ndamase.

A report by The Citizen said that voting polls were opened from October 27 to November 17.
Before becoming a TikTok sensation, the Harare-based star began her career as a gospel singer and later ventured into comedy skits, which helped her go viral on social media.
She became the first Zimbabwean comedian to pass one million followers on Facebook and has over 800 000 followers on Instagram.
With her latest win, Chikocho follows in the footsteps of Elsa Majimbo who scooped the title of African Social Star of 2020.
