Cape Town – Actress Gcina Mkhize has received emotional and financial support after a viral video where she pleaded for help following the auction sale of her home.
Unable to keep up with payments, she is contesting the sale and refusing to leave the house.
Public sympathy led to the launch of a BackaBuddy campaign.
Gcina also said that donations to her personal bank account have exceeded R20,000. In addition to financial support, she has received food donations and offers of legal assistance.
“I would like to thank each and every person who has made a donation to our BackaBuddy campaign. I would also like to thank those who have made a deposit into my personal account. All the money is making a huge difference in our lives. My children and I are eternally grateful. We are deeply humbled by your kindness,” Times Live quoted her as saying.
Gcina expressed gratitude to supporters, including industry colleagues who contributed.
