Cape Town — While Halloween isn’t widely celebrated in South Africa compared to the rest of the world, that didn’t deter two American women from dressing up in homage to the famous Water dance challenge by South African music sensation, Tyla.
Tyla’s fame has skyrocketed since the release of her hit song, “Water,” which has trended in TikTok challenges and made its mark on the prestigious US Billboard Top 100 Charts. This newfound recognition has opened doors for the 21-year-old, including a live performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Imagine the pleasant surprise when she was tagged in a TikTok video featuring Jessica Kunamalla from Chicago and her friend, creatively dressed in Halloween outfits inspired by the song and dance challenge. Jessica emulated Tyla with a nude top and skirt combo, while her friend transformed into a Fiji Water bottle using cling wrap.
The duo had a blast as Jessica performed the Water dance, even playfully lifting her friend and mimicking a real water bottle.

She was left in complete shock by the video, and since she was tagged in the comments, she simply wrote: “No ways.”
The video was later shared to X where Tyla asked fans to keep tagging her. She also reposted a video of someone who dressed up as her when she appeared on the Bianca talkshow.
“Guys please keep tagging and sending these to me… this is crazy,” she said.
