Cape Town – South African actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa is reportedly being sued R143 million by freelance photographer, Cyan Haribhai, over photos she allegedly took at the South African Fashion Week and “reposted without permission”.
The photographer allegedly filed the lawsuit against the actress at the Johannesburg High Court, reports said.
According to The Citizen, Haribhai claims that she took photos of Enhle at Fashion Week and the actress reposted them without permission.
The pictures were published on a fashion website, Photo Vogue, the report said.
The freelance photographer alleges she posted the pictures on her Instagram page and the Isibaya actress took screenshots of the images and posted them on her own Instagram page without her permission, the report said.
Haribhai reportedly sent a lawyer’s letter to the actress alerting her that her actions were copyright infringement, but the actress ignored the letter, reported Sunday World.
In her response, the actress alleged she was shocked by Haribhai’s “frivolous lawsuit” over the images that were taken over three years ago.
“It baffles me how she would seek damages from me for reposting from her page an image of my work, that she never sought any authorisation from me nor my company to use for her financial gains with Photo Vogue or Vogue Italia.
In December, the mother of two revealed that she fired a security guard who allegedly spied on her.
“I said I don’t feel safe with this guy here, so I asked the security company to remove him from my house.” she wrote.
In November she took to social media to expose a stalker threatening to leak her “private chats” and “sexy pictures” online.
