According to Sowetan Live, the seasoned broadcaster lost a short battle with cancer.
“The family has received a number of media queries on the cause of death. While it was our wish to keep this private and make the relevant pronouncements at the appropriate time, we believe it is in the best interest of the public to share that Luzuko lost a short and vigorously fought battle against cancer,” the report quoted the family spokesperson Nontobeko Mabitsela as saying.

South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Group Executive for Radio, Nada Wotshela, commended Luzuko on his “honour and integrity” in serving the public broadcaster well through his work.
“He served the organisation with honour and integrity as a young journalist and radio presenter on Umhlobo Wenene FM and the SABC newsroom in Port Elizabeth in the early 2000s.
“He inspired young people from rural communities with his passion and determination to succeed.
“He soon rose to the position of Assignment Editor, before he left the organisation to join government communications. His coming back to the SABC as Business Manager at Channel Africa kind of completed his life circle. It’s really hard to imagine a future without Luzuko as he had so many plans and dreams that he still wanted to fulfill,” SABC quoted her as saying.
