According to The Sowetan, boxing promoter Arnold ” “Squire” Nododile’s Infinity International Boxing will also stage it’s maiden boxing tournament that day.
“This will be the first ever female celebrity exhibition boxing match-up in the African Continent since such fights have become part and parcels of the evolution of boxing around the globe,” Nododile said.
The Citizen reported that there was some confusion over the sponsors of the event, as Ndodlile had been using the logos of the department of sports, arts and culture in Mpumalanga as well as the logo of Emalahleni local municipality to promote the event, however neither were the sponsors of the event.
Director of sports and recreation Bhutini Ngoma, said the national department had allocated about R350 000 for his department’s programmes aimed at empowering boxers, the department had not yet allocated the funds to any projects due to budget cuts.
Instead, CEO of Boxing SA, Nsikayezwe Sithole, said they gave money to Nodolilie and Infinty International Boxing to stage the event.
