Cape Town – Wife of Springboks flyhalf, Marise Pollard, recently opened up about losing weight after her first child.
Whilst hosting a Q&A session on her Instagram, many followers took the opportunity to ask Marise about her pregnancy and post partum journey.
According to The South African, when asked about how she had lost her baby weight, Marise replied by saying that this was a question she was familiar with but not in a good way.
She said that her post partum journey had been a difficult one.
“This is a question I have received on a daily basis and not always in a positive light. First PP (post partum) is damn hard, it’s hard for everyone and it’s so important to be kind to yourself and focus on your own mental health. I have not done anything. I couldn’t train during my pregnancy which was really tough for me, and I haven’t really trained since”, they reported her writing.
Marise continued by writing that her journey had many complications, which she is actively choosing not to post on social media.
“I have been breastfeeding which has felt like a training program on it’s own haha. My PP journey has been tough with complications which I’m not going to share on here. But don’t compare and don’t shame anyone because you don’t know what their going through.
“So my advice is, be present with your baby. Look after your mental health. Do and surround yourself with people and things that make you happy. I really made a conscious decision to be positive and to be vocal to Handre and my family if I wasn’t feeling well. Being in a positive mind space was the most important thing for me” the report quoted her as saying.
