Cape Town — Not often do two women who have dated the same man get along as well as Nadia Nakai and DJ ZInhle, both former girlfriends of the late rapper, AKA.
DJ Zinhle and AKA dated a few years ago and they had one child together, Kairo Forbes. Early in 2022,Nadia Nakai and AKA started dating, all the way until his untimely death in February 2023.
According to Sunday World, DJ Zinhle said she and Nadia never really had much of a relationship until his death, but they have grown a lot closer since.
“We were never really intentional about the relationship, but there was never really anything that we had against each other. We were always so cool, but we just feel we could have been cooler than we were already,” she said.
According to The South African, Nadia said that Zinhle was the one who introduced her to Kairo, whom she has developed a close connection with.
“We were at this Fashion Week launch and it was the second time I’d seen Zee since I started dating Kiernan. She was like, ‘When do you start babysitting? You need to start babysitting Kairo.’ Inside I was just like, ‘okay, she seems fine with it so I told Kiernan and I met Kairo two days after that,” Nadia said.
Since AKA’s passing, the Forbes family has done a lot to make Nadia and Zinhle feel part of the family. The family have spent multiple occasions together and they have been great role models to Kairo.
