Cape Town – South African musician, Mthokozisi ‘DJ Tira’ Khathi, has hit back at Twitter users who claimed that he was paid to promote Covid-19 vaccinations.
It all started on Wednesday, September 15, when the Afrotainment record label founder took to social media to boast that he had been fully vaccinated after receiving his second dose of Pfizer.
“Fully vaccinated Officially a 5G crew… Bring all the theories let’s hear what’s next,” he tweeted.

However, his post prompted a lot of reaction on Twitter, as many of his fans insinuated that he was paid to promote vaccinations.
But he dismissed the claims: “If anyone can bring proof that I got paid for tweeting about the vaccine I will pay you R10 000 plus all the money you say (I) got as this is a “paid promo”. Sometimes in life, you must just do what you think is right and forget about the noise.”

According to IOL, more than 15 million doses have been administered in South Africa, and 18.6% of the adult population has been fully vaccinated as of Tuesday, September 14.
“Many of the 35 to 49 cohort are in the process of getting their second dose of the two-dose Pfizer vaccine,” the report said.
