Cape Town – Former actress turned writer and film director Mmabatho Montsho has all kinds of reasons to celebrate as her short film, Desmond’s Not Here Anymore, has scooped an award from the Paris International Film Festival.
The socially-conscious filmmaker took to Twitter recently to break the good news to her followers.

According to TimesLive, the film, which was released last year, tells the story of “Abigail” who is played by American actress Yolonda Ross who battles moving her elderly mother with dementia out from the family home.
The scriptwriter behind the film is Lindiwe Suttle-Muller Westernhagen who is the daughter of award-winning former TV host Felicia Mabuza-Suttle.
Lindiwe posted a short video clip of herself on Twitter celebrating the short film’s victory.

Economic Freedom Fighter’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi congratulated his beau, Mmabatho, on Twitter:

Mmabatho holds a Master of Art (MA) in Screen and Screenwriting. Her work largely privileges women, their stories and emancipation. She has produced critically-acclaimed and independent films that have screened at multiple renowned international film festivals, according to FilmAndTvNow.
