Cape Town — South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has much reason to celebrate after he was chosen as the cover artist for Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio.
Cassper is enjoying a stellar music year as the artist is currently on his African Throne music tour alongside fellow SA rapper Nasty C. In June, he also announced that he was set to release his album, Solomon, in July, which was going to be a celebration of his longevity. He had some delays and ended up releasing it last week.
Cassper described the album as a project inspired by the rap music he grew up listening to and is his simplest and most mature offering yet.

According to TimesLIVE, the rapper said Solomon is like a Grootman album for him.
“I’ve settled into my position in the game. This is who I am. I am no longer young, no longer the hottest guy on the block, I’m not as excited as the new guys — but I’m the guy who did it like nobody did.”
“I’m the guy with the game, with jewels. I’m the guy they want to get the information from, so this is the album where I’m basically giving out game. I’m in my element and I’m calm about it. I’m very particular about it,” he said.
In the aftermath of Solomon’s release, Cassper was proud to announce that the album debuted at number 1 across all genres on the Apple’s iTunes. It was the first hip-hop album to debut at number 1 and he thanked fans for buying the album and appreciating his work.
#Solomon debuted at number 1 in the on iTunes, across all genres. Thank you for buying the album. I am told it’s the first hip hop album to debut number at 1 on iTunes this year.
