Cape Town – One of the purest forms of entertainment is said to be opera, and Capetonians have the opportunity to witness this art after the Cape Town Opera (CTO) announced the works that will be featured in the 2023 season.
“We are incredibly excited to announce our 2023 Season! We welcome the return of some of our favourite works, and some new ones too,” it said in a Facebook post.
News24 reports that the Opera Company introduced the 2023 soloists during an event at the Zeitz MOCAA Ocular Lounge on Friday.
It was reportedly a celebratory year-end function that honoured the Board of Directors, patron and funders as well as looking towards what the Opera has in store for 2023.
“In a year that began with Covid-19 restrictions, the company remarkably delivered 97 performances, from mainstage productions to community concerts and opera for babies, and capped it by winning an International Opera Award for one of their educational programmes, Foundation Studio,” CTO reportedly said in a press statement.
The four new soloists, Brittany Smith, Nobulumko Mngxekeza, Lukhanyo Moyake and Conroy Scott, performed at the event, giving those in attendance a preview of what’s to come next year.
