Cape Town –A South African bride has stirred up controversy demanding that a friend pay her R1 500 to cover the cost of her seat at the wedding, after the friend failed to show up.
The bride was disgruntled that the friend had RSVP’d to indicate they would be attending but did not turn up. Twitter user @lingdeeyoh posted a screenshot of a message, purportedly from the bride, with the caption “lmfao stop”.
“Hi babe. Highly disappointed that you didn’t come to the wedding. I hope there’s a good reason for that,’ the message reads. “The problem is that your seat came with costs and now we need you to supplement the cost because you didn’t arrive. Roughly,[the] cost is about R1 500 per seat.” The bride attached her bank details to the message.

While some comments said the bride was within her rights to ask for reimbursement, others suggested she was way out of line.
@ItzCandyRox said: “If you RSVP’d and didn’t pitch then absolutely, you owe them. If you declined then it’s a different story.
