Cape Town – A recent report by Net Credit revealed that South African TV Personalities Minnie Dlamini and Boity Thulo are amongst the highest-paid Instagram users in South Africa.
The report revealed how much celebrities made from the social media app, Instagram in 2021. According to the Net Credit, Minnie earned $567 624 (R10.34 million) while Boity raked in a whopping $777 852 (R14.11 million).
The pair were ranked second and third, behind first-placed AB De Villers, who makes the most money from Instagram in South Africa. The former Proteas batsman made an incredible amount of just over $1.4 million (R26 million).
Meanwhile, Africa’s top Instagram earner is Egyptian musician Amr Diab. The 60-year-old singer is a frequent award winner and capitalizes on his established presence in Mediterranean pop to command nearly $90k for each sponsored post. He does this 40 times a year for brands, including Amazon, Citroen, Pepsi, and Vodafone.
“The total Instagram earnings from influencer to influencer depend not only on their follower count but on how often they’re prepared to sell their name and the power of that name in their particular market,” Net Credit said.
Elsewhere in the world
Cristiano Ronaldo is the world’s top Instagram earner, making $85.22m in 2021 from sponsored posts. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is in close second place, with $71.96m.
In America, Ellen DeGeneres is the top Instagram earner in the U.S., making $33.73m per year. Justin Bieber is Canada’s top Instagram earner, making $4.43m.
