Cape Town — Former South African football star Benni McCarthy and his wife Stacey recently celebrated nine years of marriage.
The couple met in 2008 while working together on a Nike commercial in Edinburgh, Scotland. In May 2014, the couple got married in Scotland and they are still very happy together, TimesLIVE reported.
Taking to their respective Instagram accounts, both Benni and Stacy posted the same picture of the two of them together.
“Happy Anniversary to my beautiful wife @staceymccarthy17 thank you for being my absolute rock ❤️ Here’s to many more years together. I love u until the end of time ? xx,” Benni wrote.
“Happy Anniversary @bennimac17 I love you so much ❤️,” Stacey said.

The couple had a soccer-themed wedding, with Benni wearing football socks and a kilt. The tables were named in honour of soccer clubs he’s played in – Seven Stars, Orlando Pirates and FC Porto.
Fast-forward nine years and the couple now have two children: 10-year-old daughter Lima and two-year-old son Lio. Benni McCarthy is also dad to three other daughters: Mina, Mya, and Allegra with Spanish ex-wife Maria Santos, The South African said.
Benni had a successful footballing career. He retired as the leading goal scorer for Bafana Bafana, and played for top sides such as Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United in England, as well as FC Porto in Portugal, where he won the UEFA Champions League.
Currently, Stacey is a former model and Benni is part of the coaching staff for English giants Manchester United.
