“She [Babes] said everything looked well. They thought that he will be discharged on the 24th [of December] the day he passed, but unfortunately, she woke up in the morning to social media…. people saying that he had passed. The family said one of the nurses in the wards where he was staying is the one that broke the news to certain people, and that is how word got out. The family is very unpleased with this because that’s how unfortunately his wife also had to find out through social media…A very distraught Babes couldn’t even contain herself because of the way she found out,” it was reported.
The family also appealed to the public to refrain from breaking tragic news until a death is confirmed by the family.
Meanwhile, eThekwini Municipality Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda and several artists paid a visit to Babes Wodumo and family on Tuesday.
“Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda accompanied by the leadership of the Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa visited the home of the late Big NUZ member Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo to offer support and pay respect to Mampintsha who passed away on Saturday,” the eThekwini Municipality said in a statement on Facebook.
