Cape Town – American R&B singer, songwriter Jesse Powell has died at the age of 51.
Jesse’s sister, Tamara Powell confirmed his passing in an Instagram post,
“It is with a heavy hear that we announce the paling of our beloved son, brother and uncle Jesse Powell,” wrote Tamara.
Asking the public for some privacy during this time on behalf of the family, Tamara informed everyone that Jesse departed the world peacefully.
“He passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home. The family asks for privacy at this time as we mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate his everlasting legacy,” she said.
Powell was perhaps best renowned for his hit song You released in 1996. It managed to hit No. 2 R&B and No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Jesse also released 4 albums between 1996 and 2003. His passion for music was highlighted by Tamara.
“Jesse loved music and he especially loved his fans who supported him throughout his career. We want you all to know that you meant the world to him,” Tamara said.
