Cape Town — Tributes continued to pour in on Thursday for legendary South African actor Patrick Ndlovu who passed away at the age of 85 on Wednesday.
While the details of his death have not yet been revealed, Ndlovu was said to have died of natural causes.
The actor played a variety of roles in many local shows including Zone 14, Yizo-Yizo, The Wild and The Queen. His agency, Moonyeen Lee Associates (MLA) wrote a touching tribute for Ndlovu.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of legendary actor, Patrick Ndlovu, who passed away from natural causes on Tuesday the 30th of May 2023. Patrick’s acting career spanned more than four decades. Patrick was best known for his role as Sizwe Moloi in the SABC1 drama series Zone 14 and as school principal, Mr Thembu, in the popular tv series, Yizo Yizo.”
“We were proud to represent such a consummate professional and majestic talent. He was a kind and gentle man, always ready with a smile even when times were tough. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, family, and friends. We will miss you Patrick. RIP,” the statement read.
The South African Film and Televisions Awards (SAFTAS) also paid tribute to Ndlovu for his “incredible body of work in all productions he’s worked in” and sent their condolences to his family and friends.
