A state-of-the-art public-sector training facility is being set up in Gauteng with a focus on  improving skills in the water sector.

While Rand Water, one of Africa’s largest bulk water utilities, already runs the Rand Water Academy, its new technical school will broaden the existing academy’s scope, market reach and offerings, according to Businesstech.

‘It will incorporate cutting-edge technologies into its educational programmes, concentrating on areas such as digital water management, automation and intelligent water systems,’ says Rand Water.

Construction of the  school, which will be housed in a repurposed building, is expected to be completed towards the end of 2026.

The facility will offer ‘advanced laboratories, simulation tools and training in subjects such as  water treatment automation, Internet of Things monitoring and data analysis’.
