Cape Town – The Overstrand municipality in the Western Cape has issued a warning to residents after a whale carcass washed up in Hermanus.
Many people gathered around the Bryde’s whale, and some of them harvested its meat, reports said.

Deputy mayor Lindile Ntsabo cautioned the public against consuming the meat due to unknown reasons behind the whale’s death and the fact that the meat was rotten, posing a risk of food poisoning, Times Live reported.
Scientists from the Overberg Stranding Network were unable to determine the cause of death and said that there was little left of the carcass for further analysis.
