Cape Town – The second convicted rapist who escaped from the Ngqeleni Correctional Centre in the Eastern Cape last week has reportedly been recaptured.
Siyabulela Khohliso and Athini Mzingelwa, who were serving sentences of 10 and eight years each for rape, allegedly escaped from the prison’s sports field on Freedom Day.
Khohliso was rearrested in Libode area and transferred to the Mthatha Correctional Centre on Monday.
According to Correctional Services Department (CSD) spokesperson, Sibangakho Nxumalo, Mzingelwa was nabbed on Wednesday at the Mthatha General Hospital, reported EWN.
The report said 10 officials who were on duty on the day of the escape have been suspended.

Khohliso and Mzingelwa will now face new charges of escaping from custody, reported TimesLIVE.
Nxumalo said Correctional services national commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale praised community members for assisting with manhunts, the report said.
“Correctional services national commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale has applauded the assistance of community members who often provide the department of correctional services with useful leads during manhunts. Such was the case again in recapturing Mzingelwa,” the report quoted Nxumalo as saying.
