Cape Town – Minister of Police Bheki Cele has shared more details on the latest arrests linked to convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester’s case.
Two more former G4S employees who were dismissed after Bester escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre, were arrested at their place of residence in Bloemfontein on Monday.
According to EWN, Cele said more arrests were imminent.
“It’s going to be a long, white, cold season. We believe that we are still at the level where it cannot end on. These are former workers, though they have retired, they have been arrested,” the report quoted Cele as saying.
The two former G4S employees “will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 03 May 2023, on a charge of assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody and defeating the ends of justice”, police said.
G4S is a private security company that manages the daily running of the Mangaung Correctional Centre.
