Cape Town – Lynn Forbes has finally revealed all, following her son, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ tragic death in February this year.
Lynn, who has been very open about her feelings on social media, appeared on eNCA’s News Night where she discussed the events both before and after her son’s death.
“We had a great bond, I think we still have a great bond and will continue to do so even in his absence. He was funny, witty and outspoken and I, as his mom, appreciated that about him. He had a voice,” said Lynn.
She said that she learnt about AKA’s death from her brother-in-law and she really struggled to process the news.
“I said ‘what do you mean? and I said ‘What happened? and he said he was shot. I think I screamed, I think I ended up on the floor. I think your body goes into self-preservation mode.”
Lynn said that both AKA and his girlfriend Nadia Nakai would attend weekly home cell church groups. The rapper also found a spiritual father in rapper-turned-preacher Kabelo Mabalane.
Musician and pastor, Kabelo Mabalane, says AKA’s prayer request before his untimely passing, was that his upcoming album, #MassCountry, becomes a success. While speaking at the rapper’s memorial service, Mabalane says AKA died a saved man. pic.twitter.com/tSAfoFYX30

“It was beautiful to see and even more beautiful to experience. He was light, who literally found God. He was not shy to say that,” she said.
She continued: “There was this light shining from within. Kiernan was always spiritual and he always believed. He was Christian and he always believed in God. He always asked my mom to pray for him and it became much deeper in the last couple of months.”
