Cape Town – Lynn Forbes has hinted at her desire to climb Mount Everest in memory of her son Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes who died in February this year.
The South African posted a screenshot of Lynn’s Instagram story where she expressed that Everest was calling her and that she needs to go.
“Everest. The mountain is calling and I must go,” she wrote.
This would not be Lynn first superfeat of this nature. Five years ago, in 2018, she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. The mission was three-fold: celebrating her 50th birthday, her first grandchild Kairo Forbes, and raising money for charity.

Lynn wouldn’t be the first celebrity mother to climb Everest after a son’s death. In 2022, Riky Rick’s mother Louisa Zondo climbed Everest in honour of her son who died after a long battle with depression.
“I’m reflecting on life, death, and the meaning of everything. I decided to proceed with this trek to Mount Everest Base Camp not only because I knew you would want me to do so but also because I imagined it would present the perfect opportunity, over 14 days, for me to wrestle with the questions – what is the moment; and how does this moment call me to be,” she said.
“As I took in the unspeakable wonders of the mountain, the sense of you being part of it all was so real MaRiky…I laughed out loud and shouted out your name”.
