Cape Town – Police arrested seven suspects in the Northern Cape for kidnapping and assault on Sunday.
According to police reports, the suspects who were driving in a blue Chevrolet Trail Blazer, picked up two men, aged 22 and 24, at their homes and took them to Deben dumping side where they were assaulted.
The victims were accused of stealing a phone from one of the suspects.
“According to information, the suspects accused the victims of stealing a cellphone from one of them. It is further alleged that the victims were assaulted and burnt.
“The vehicle that was used to transport the victims was confiscated,” police spokesperson Captain Mosimaneotsile Letsapa said.

The John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) District Commissioner, Major General Jonny Besnaar issued a stern warning to the community that anyone taking the law into their own hands, would face the full might of the law.
Besnaar also reminded communities around JTG to report all criminal activities to the police in order to bring perpetrators to justice.
All suspects are set to appear in the Kathu Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of kidnapping and assault.
