Cape Town – One person was reportedly injured when a vehicle transporting a 1 000 litre petrol container on a trailer exploded on the N1 North between Malibongwe and William Nicol Drive off-ramp in Johannesburg.
According to reports, the accident happened on Friday and one person was injured.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMP) said all lanes were blocked off to traffic and motorists were warned of heavy delays as traffic was being diverted onto Malibongwe Drive.
“A Mahindra truck pulling a trailer that was containing a small tanker of about a 1 000L got involved in an accident,” News24 quoted spokesperson for the Joburg EMS, Xolile Khumalo, as saying.
The injured person was assisted by paramedics, the report said.
According to JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla, the cause of the explosion remained, the report said.
