Cape Town – South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes has died.
Police confirmed that the rapper was shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on Friday night.
“What we can confirm for now is that a well-known musician, 35-year-old, and his bodyguard who is said to be 34 years old were shot and killed on Florida road on Friday night.
“The musician and his security detail were leaving after supper… so as they were leaving for their vehicles, two unknown gunmen came from across the street and opened fire on them…,” police said.

AKA was in the province for a performance.
A family statement appealed for “compassion, spacer, and time to congregate as family to decide the coming days”.
The family expressed its sadness following AKA’s death and said: “To us, Kienan Jarryd Forbes, was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, most importantly, father to his beloved daughter Kairo.
