Cape Town – After the newly appointed ANC deputy president Paul Mashatile was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on Monday, social media users were not afraid to voice their thoughts on his induction.
Former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was among those who aired their views.
Outgoing Gauteng MEC for economic development Parks Tau, former KwaZulu-Natal premier Sihle Zikalala, and newly-elected ANC second deputy secretary general Maropene Ramokgopa were also sworn in as MPs.
This came as President Cyril Ramaphosa was expected to reshuffle his Cabinet.
It is anticipated that the reshuffle would see Mashatile being announced as deputy president of the country.
However, Zuma-Sambudla believed that Mashatile “doesn’t have that thing” – a belief she expressed on Twitter, prompting some of her followers to agree with her.

Meanwhile, some followers were inclined to disagree with Zuma-Sambudla’s observations.
Indeed he doesn’t have that thing of being able to sing and dance. But maybe he will be able to call numbers in speeches correctly.

Mashatile was sworn in as an MP came after he replaced Deputy President David Mabuza as ANC deputy president at the party’s 55th national elective conference which took place in December last year.
Mabuza declined the nomination to contest for his position.
According to News24, Mashatile refused to answer any questions about Mabuza, saying that he remained the deputy president of the country.
“I have been deployed to Parliament. I am the deputy president of the ANC, and the deputy president of the country is the prerogative of the president. He should decide that. For now, I am happy to serve here as MP. It’s good to be back here,” the report quoted Mashatile as saying.
