Cape Town – An alleged hijacker was reportedly shot and killed by a patrol officer on Paul Kruger Street in South Crest Ekurhuleni on Saturday just after midnight.
According to Netcare 911, the incident occurred during a shootout with alleged hijackers.
“Reports indicate that an armed response officer drove upon a hijacking scene while doing his normal patrols.

“The suspect allegedly opened fire and the response officer returned fire, hitting one of the alleged suspects,” IOL quoted Shawn Herbst from Netcare 911 as saying.
Herbst said on arrival, paramedics found an adult male motionless on the ground, the report said.
“The patient was assessed, however, showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene,” Herbst said.
The driver of the vehicle that the suspects tried to hijack was reported safe, the report said.
