Cape Town – A 47-year-old man was reportedly mauled to death by two dogs in Bloemhof, North West, on Monday afternoon.
The dogs allegedly escaped from their yard through a broken fence and attacked the man in the street.
According to police spokesperson Aafje Botma, investigations indicated that the man was walking when the dogs allegedly broke free through a hole in the fence and attacked him, SABC News reported.
“The incident happened yesterday afternoon, 16 January 2023, at about 16:00 at a house in Dorpstreet in Bloemhof. Initial investigation indicates that the 47-year-old man was walking in the street, when the dogs allegedly escaped through a hole in the fence of their yard and attacked him,” the report quoted Botma as saying.

The dogs bit the man on his throat and he died on the scene, reports TimesLIVE.
The report said police were busy with the investigation and awaiting the post-mortem results.
The dogs were removed by the Kimberley SPCA, the report said.
This came shortly after a murder parolee was reportedly attacked by his neighbour’s two pit bulls while walking to his home in Tasmin Road, Trenance Park, KZN on Sunday morning.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa, the man lost his left eyeball while chunks of flesh were ripped off his arms, legs and body.
