Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has asked for time to “apply his mind” amid the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle.
There have been growing calls for Ramaphosa to reshuffle his cabinet, with the newly-elected ANC top seven saying that they will respect the president’s decision.
Newly-elected ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula this week shared his thoughts on the imminent cabinet reshuffle, saying there is need for a “government that is youthful”.
However, the president hasn’t succumbed to the pressure. He jokingly told the media at the ANC Presidential Golf Day on Thursday that the cabinet reshuffle was prominent in the media sphere.

“Just obliterate that and wait for the moment when the President will have applied his mind, and stop asking when is that going to happen? Just know that the president will apply his mind, and as always, I will be coming to you all and the nation and telling you what is going to happen. So relax, have a cup of coffee, and just sit back and watch this space,” Ramaphosa said in a video shared on Twitter.
TimesLIVE reported that the president is expected to fire some ministers who were not voted into the new ANC national executive committee and introduce newcomers.
