Cape Town – Singer Babes Wodumo is currently still in mourning after the loss of her partner Mandla ‘Mampinthsa’ Maphulo. The 40-year-old singer passed away last week after suffering a stroke and his wife has been staying strong throughout this period.
Mampinthsa’s funeral took place at the Durban International Convention Centre on Friday and Babes Wodumo paid an emotional tribute in honour of her late husband,.
According to TimesLIVE, the hall fell silent when Babes stood up and recounted her husband’s last days while being treated at the hospital.
“In his last days, he said he loved me. I think that’s why I’m this strong,” she said.

The singer also joked about not being able to have access to his phone, saying: “What’s tricky is that he left the world without giving me the pin to his phone. Hai, men. Now I stare at it when calls are coming in, unable to answer.
“…There isn’t any man that does not cheat, there isn’t.”
According to The South African, Babes Wodumo told the crowd that she never believed that Mampintsha had passed when the nurses told her. She remembered pushing him to see if he would respond but he didn’t.

Thembinkosi Maphumulo – father of the late Mampintsha – poured out his heart as he said his final goodbyes. Maphumulo said it had always been his son’s dream to be a successful musician.
“He was a blessing. From a very young age, it has always been his dream to be a musician. He told us very early in his life that his love was for music. There was nothing we could do about it because he was passionate about it. Yes, we were against it but as time went by, we realised that he was called for this,” Mampintsha’s father said.
