Cape Town – South African power utility, Eskom, announced on Saturday that it will suspend load shedding from 05:00 on Christmas Day until 05:00 on December 26.
“The suspension of load shedding on Christmas day is only possible due to the lower demand for electricity,” Eskom said in a statement.
Eskom appealed to consumers to “conserve as much electricity as possible during this period”, adding that:
“Should there be multiple failures of generators, a higher stage of load shedding may need to be implemented at short notice
