Cape Town – CEO of the Kolisi Foundation, Rachel Kolisi has received buckets of praises from users on social media after she took to Instagram to celebrate her brother-in-law passing his initiation.
Rachel and her husband, Siya Kolisi adopted their half-siblings in 2009 after their mother had passed on. Liyema, who came back from passing his Xhosa initiation, and his sister Liphelo were featured in the picture Rachel posted to Instagram.
According to Lens Culture, the Xhosa initiation known as Ulwaluko is a tough one, consisting of various stages and “unbelievably bad” conditions. But it is required for the boy to endure these tribulations in order to become a man.
Rachel captioned the post, “Halala!!!! Yabuya indodana, sho ta Yema! [Liyema has now become a man and returned from the bush/initiation].”
