Cape Town – Trevor Noah was on the brink of tears as he thanked those who supported The Daily Show throughout his time as the show’s host, giving a special thanks to black women and letting the audience know that it was black women who “shaped me, nourished me and informed me”.
In his final show as host, the South African comedian said that people always credit him for having grand ideas and being smart. However, he credited the black women in his life for teaching him what he knows.
“From my mom, my gran, my aunt – all these black women in my life,” Trevor said.
“I always tell people: if you truly want to learn about America, talk to black women,” he added, sounding almost as though he was about to break down into tears.
“Because unlike everybody else, black women cannot afford to f*** around and find out. Black people understand how hard it is when things go bad.”
“But black women in particular, they know what s**t is, genuinely,” Trevor added.

“Trevor I just sincerely want to thank you! Your memoir was one of the books that got me through quarantine and the whole of 2020 just sharing some laughs in such a dark time. You also were just so genuine opening up to us to your family and life so candidly , especially your grandmother ( who reminded so much of my grandmother and how she spoke). You will definitely be missed and loved, but I know you will finally have the time to explore the world on your terms!” wrote another.
