Cape Town – A Kimberly “doctor” who allegedly raped a 17-year-old patient earlier this year is reportedly an illegal immigrant and not registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), investigations reveal have revealed.
The teen allegedly went into Ilunga Kalasa’s medical practice in Kimberly for a consultation in April when she was allegedly raped, reported IOL.
“She was subsequently raped during a medical examination. He is also accused of sexually assaulting a 25-year-old patient at his surgery on 20 April 2022 during a medical examination,” the report quoted National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane as saying.

The accused faces two additional charges of contravention of the Immigration Act and the contravention of the Health Professions Act, reported News24.
“The two additional charges emanate from police investigations, which indicated that the accused was working in South Africa as a medical practitioner without the prescribed medical professional documents or being registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
“The accused, who is a Congolese national, is also in South Africa without legitimate immigration documents, and he was in the country [illegally],” Senokoatsane was quoted as saying in the report.
He appeared at the Kimberley District Court on Thursday and the case was postponed to 10 January.
