Cape Town – South Africa’s greatly admired radio present, Mark Pilgrim has apologised to his followers for being off-air longer than he expected, as he received further treatment for his collapsed lung.
The media personality revealed recently in a social media post that his lung had collapsed.
On Wednesday, Pilgrim took to his Instagram account to express his gratitude for Hot FM’s management for always making his health their priority.
“Sorry guys, had plans to be back on air tomorrow, but the constant lung draining (another 2L today) is really knocking me. Today I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Lloyd, Tony and the rest of the management team at @hot1027fm. I phone to say I want to crawl up the stairs and do a show and they’re the sensible ones saying, no matter how many times I’m off air, their priority is supporting me getting better. We are not just a radio station, we’re a family. Thank you to everyone at @hot1027fm,” he wrote.

Mark remains optimistic despite the possibility of undergoing surgical treatment.
“Possible surgery next week to sort out the last month or so. There’s always hope and sunshine,” he said.
Throughout his battle with stage 4 cancer, the media personality’s spirit of gratitude, positivity and humor remains unwavering.
Last week he took the time to thank the medical staff from the doctor’s room while having fluid drained from his chest.
“To all the doctors and nurses helping me on the journey to recovery… thank you,” he wrote on his Instagram timeline.
“It’s “been a rough couple of weeks and there’s still a few bumps. One day at a time. One foot in front of the other,” he continued.
The radio presenter was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer earlier this year.
