Cape Town – A man who works in the building where six decomposing bodies were found, says he and his colleagues were shaken when they made the chilling discovery.
The half a dozen bodies, some in an advanced state of decomposition, were found at a block of flats in downtown Johannesburg.
This was after police were called out following complaints of foul smell from the building.
The body of a woman who had been reported missing earlier this month was found.
A man believed to be the last person seen with the woman was questioned and police later discovered five more bodies outside the building where there was a makeshift workshop and rubbish dumpsters.
The man, who alerted police to the stench and chose to remain anonymous, said he initially thought a dead animal was the cause of the foul smell but he and colleagues were greeted by “something I was never prepared to see”, News24 reported.

The smell became so unbearable that the man and his colleagues decided to investigate its source on Sunday, the report said.
“We went there and saw something I was never prepared to see. I have never seen such a thing in my entire life. I am shaking. I can’t believe that we live among such brutal human beings. The [one] victim had her underwear below her knees. Her head and neck were covered with her skirt. All six had their hands and feet tied from behind,
“Four of the bodies were found inside three different vehicles that were here to be fixed. One body was found hidden under garbage behind the building. The other woman was stuffed inside a waste bin,” the man was quoted as saying.
The man said had not eaten since Sunday as the sight of what he saw still tormented him.
“The sight of flies and maggots coming from those women’s bodies torments me. I can’t concentrate. This smell is still here. It doesn’t want to go away,” he added.
The suspect was expected to face six counts of murder in court, the report said.
