Cape Town – Condolence messages are pouring in from peers and friends mourning the death of Kimon ‘Kiki’ Bisogno after she was killed in a shark attack in Plettenberg Bay on Sunday.
The National Sea Rescue Institute said on Sunday that beaches were closed after the shark attack claimed her life.
An organisation consisting of activists and lawyers who provide legal services, research capacity and training opportunities to communities in campaigns for justice & equality, Ndifuna Ukwazi, also sent its heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.

“Kiki and her partner Diego began the Obs Pasta Kitchen out of their restaurant Ferdinando’s pizza, serving home-made pasta to people experiencing homelessness once a week. This September it celebrated 5 years in operation,” the organisation said in a post dedicated to Bisogno.
It also highlighted how she and her husband contributed to bettering the lives of people who who struggled.
“Through their work, Kiki and Diego contributed food, gas, and other essentials to the Rainbow House, a long-term housing programme for people who used to live on the street,” it stated.
The organisation quoted Bisogno when referring to what her aims of Obs Pasta Kitchen were.
“In the long term, I just want to develop relationships with the needy, and establish how we can help them, not just giving hand-outs but creating special bonds so that ultimately there will be nobody at this Pasta Kitchen, it will just be a celebration of friends coming to ‘re-meet,” she said according to the post.
The organisation added that the family has asked that flowers be placed outside of Ferdinando’s Pizza in Observatory Lower Main Road.
More condolences poured in on social media, with friends and peers reflecting on the type of person Bisogno was and the time they spent with her.
“The world lost a beautiful shining light yesterday and no doubt you are our guiding angel now Kiki,” one user said.
“My heart is broken with your family and close friends. May your amazing soul rest in peace dear giving, bubbly and lovely one,” another user posted.
