Cape Town – The Woodstock area was rocked by an explosion that took place on Thursday evening on the corner of Plein and Victoria Street, with two people sustaining serious injuries.
According to EWN, the two men injured were transported to Groote Schuur Hospital after sustaining 70 to 100% burn wounds.
Authorities said that an initial blast preceded the break out of the fire which was followed by several secondary explosions.

Mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith confirmed the injuries of the two males, IOL reported.
“The two adult male patients, condition code red, sustained 70% to 100% burn wounds and were taken to Groote Schuur Hospital.
“The cause of the explosions is unknown at this stage. Further details will be released as they become known,” the report quoted Smith as saying.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Smith said the entire area reverberated with the explosion.
“People on the scene described it as something from a movie or a scene of civil war with the cars outside,” he said.
